Claude used in war ?

According to a report , United States Central Command relied on Claude, the AI system developed by Anthropic, to support operations during the strikes. The AI was reportedly used for tasks described as intelligence assessments, target identification, and battle simulations.

But those terms are vague. In real-world terms, it’s unclear whether the system was simply organizing and summarizing intelligence data, or whether it played a more direct role — such as highlighting specific sites for attack or estimating potential casualties. No detailed explanation has been provided publicly, and notably, there is no formal requirement for authorities to disclose exactly how such AI tools are used in military decisions.

Artificial intelligence has been part of modern warfare for years — assisting with satellite image analysis, monitoring cyber threats, and supporting missile defense systems. What stands out here is the reported use of a chatbot-style AI system — based on the same core technology millions of people use daily for routine tasks — in an active military context.
